Who I Am

I believe in treating the whole person, so let me introduce myself. I’ve been practicing as a licensed clinical social worker for 21 years (in Michigan, Vermont, and Virginia). I’m a second-generation mental health provider (and third-generation health care provider). I’m a singer, gardener, swimmer, reader, and traveler. I live in Manassas, Virginia with my husband and two awesome kids. And I love what I do. I’ve had the privilege of serving more than a thousand clients, people who have come to me with the desire to live a healthier and less painful life. I’ve had the joy of nurturing their growth and witnessing their healing as they move forward on their journeys. They are my inspiration.

What I Do

I help clients of all ages and backgrounds to identify their needs, balance self-care—including physical wellness, sleep, and self-compassion—with the demands of everyday life and work, improve communication skills, and advocate for their needs. My life and work experiences have shaped my current practice. I help children, adults, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges, including:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Stress management
  • Coping with chronic illness
  • Parenting
  • Marriage/relationships
  • ADHD (including evaluations)

Part of my practice focuses on helping individuals who face extraordinary challenges, including:

  • Infertility, postpartum health and wellness, infant and pregnancy loss
  • Sexuality, particularly LGBTQ individuals, including transitioning/gender identity questions—sex positive approach
  • Prevention/early intervention for children with or at risk for developmental challenges
  • Grieving the loss of a child, partner, friend, parent, or significant relationship, including help for children who are mourning
